    Download Festival

Post  mcmicken on Fri Jun 12, 2009 1:46 pm

Just a temporary link to the live webcast from this years Download Festival. Some decent bands playing but not all of them are offering their sets up for recording which is a pain (I'm looking at you ZZ Top...)

Spent so far watching Five Finger Death Punch who were pretty mad. Insane crowd reaction too. Devildriver were pretty cool too. Also liked the Friday Highlights of Killswitch playing since I was working when they were playing live. Listened to some old school Limp Bizkit too. Forgot how cool their Mission Impossible tune was.

    Looking forward to Shinedown tomorrow!

Shinedown aint being screened but I'm not overly fussed tbh.

Watched Pendulum yesterday and for the first time I really wish I'd been able to go to Donnington this year. Saw them last year on the 2nd stage but the vibe in the crowd looked proper mental. Apparently the Slipknot set was off the hook too so I'll have to search it, see if it's as good as people were saying.

Yesterday was the proper heavy metal day which was pretty cool but today's the old school "Monsters of Rock" kinda style. Tesla on at the moment, pretty damned cool actually. Only know the one song but have enjoyed listening so far. Obviously looking forward to Journey...biggest sing a long in the world it'll be.

Watched Journey and it was probably the best thing I've seen in a long time. I think I'll check them out if they come back to the UK. They had a Philipino singer that I didn't recognise that they hired after hearing him covering Journey songs in his other band. Amazing voice.

Well it's pretty much over as for the live stream. Def Leppard are only streaming 2 songs which is pretty disappointing. After a good weekend of heavy metal and classic rock to have the headliners of the whole festival to not allow for people to hear them puts a bit of a downer on the weekend for me.

Ach well, I may do a weekend review sometime but I'm gonna wait it out and hope to be pleasantly surprised by Def Leppard.

Major announcements due for this year's festival in 10mins! Scott smells AC/DC. It's the 30th anniversary of the old school Monsters of Rock fest on Donnington so it'd make sense to have rock royalty there. Also one of their crew may have accidentally heavily implied it :P

AC/DC, Rage Against the Machine and Aerosmith headlining...so tempted to go.

I could get the money together no worries but time off work could be tough.
